How much does dressmaking cost?
Our skilled dressmakers can make almost anything.
Dressmaking is costed on a time basis.
Come in for an initial consultation and we can give you a quote.
(Please be aware that making a one-off original design just for you is time consuming, and usually more expensive than buying something off the rack.)
How long does it take to make an original garment?
The time it takes depends on the complexity of the dressmaking required.
We suggest you allow a minimum of three weeks (you’ll probably need to come in for another fitting during the process).
Do I need to make an appointment before I come in?
No appointments are required, however given that designing and planning an original garment requires concentration and is time consuming we have a preference for dressmaking consultations being on weekdays, and if on weekends we have a preference for customers to come first thing in the morning.
What do I need to supply?
You will need to supply your own fabric. At your initial consultation our dressmaker can help you decide what you will need to purchase.
Can you customise a garment?
Yes – our dressmakers have lots of experience customising garments to suit the specific needs of the customer.
Can you alter a garment?
Yes – all stores can alter garments. You’ll need to attend a store to be properly fitted.
I bought something online and it doesn’t fit. Can you help?
Yes we can - just come in with the garment and our dressmakers can let you know the options to alter it so that it fits the way you want.
Almost any garment can be made smaller.
Making garments bigger is limited by the existing seam allowances - unless it is possible to add panels/gussets.
